Book Description
for Emma's Awesome Summer Camp Adventure by Amy Webb, Grace Webb, and Tuesday Mourning
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
Emma is excited to be at summer camp for the first time, making new friends, learning about their interests, and taking part in the many activities at Camp Waterfall. These include games, crafts, and swimming. There’s even a zip line. But the best thing about Camp Waterfall its practice of inclusion for all. For Emma, who uses a wheelchair, and her cabin mates, who have differing disabilities, this means everyone can participate, no matter the activity. This purposeful picture book underscores the value of inclusion while illuminating feelings relatable for all children, from Emma’s nerves when she looks down from atop the zip line tower to Bradley’s fear of dancing in front of everyone during the talent show.
