Powerful Partnerships

Make the Most of School Visits

Integrate TeachingBooks resources into public library staff visits to school classrooms or school class visits to public libraries. Easy resource sharing offers new opportunities to collaborate and meet literacy goals.

  • Create and share booklists of available library titles that support class topics or curriculum, starting communication before the visit to determine what is needed. Hand out QR code bookmarks for the lists to teachers and students.
  • Find book trailers for high interest titles and add them to book talks or create QR code shelf talkers to let students preview a selection of titles independently. Discuss how resources like this can help students learn to select titles at the public library.
  • Celebrate all kinds of libraries together with these National Library Week Teaching Ideas.
